About Me

Hi. I’m Clare. I was brought up in the Caribbean and moved to the UK when I was 18. I have been to both private and state schools, had money, been broke, employed, self employed, unemployed, long term sick. I have worked in a supermarket, in finance and kids tv production. When my parents died, my life changed forever. I retrained as a therapist, and that path has brought me here, to you today.

Having worked with the mind and body for nearly 20 years, I have learnt to understand just how interlinked our minds and bodies are, and more specifically the power of our minds. We are products of our minds, of how they function. For example, if our minds think one thing, our bodies tend to respond accordingly. Think pain. If we are hurting on the inside (anxiety or stress), our bodies usually respond. We’re wired, we ache, we’re not hungry, can’t sleep or we comfort eat. If we are suffering from grief, our heart aches, but we will also subconsciously protect our hearts and the left side of our body might tighten up a bit, causing real life back or shoulder pain. If we are trying to do better at work, get a promotion, meet sales targets the pressure we’re feeling on the inside might make us hold our body that little bit tighter, causing pain, tension, and/or headaches. Depression can make us feel empty, numb, or teary.

The upside, is that we can change this. We can create new neuropaths in our brains to change all of these things. We can become more confident, more positive, more committed to achieving any goal we set ourselves. We can literally reprogram our brains to help us be the person we want to be, no matter how big or small the leap might seem at the moment.

I am the product of years of therapy, self reflection and tough choices, and I’m still not perfect – but who is? What I can tell you, is that I am happy in my own skin today, happy to be me, and happy with the choices I make in my day to day life. Some of this may be age – I’m no spring chicken anymore – but a lot of it is hard work on my part, becoming the person I want to be. The person that will hopefully help you…
